Computer Aided Design with Kayana: CAD immersion

About Kayana

Hi! My name is Kayana and I’m an incoming freshman at MIT looking to major in Mechanical Engineering. I graduated at the top of my class at one of the best private high schools in the country, completing the pre-engineering course and competing on the robotics team.
Throughout high school, my passion for engineering heightened as I explored fundamental engineering principles like electronics, the design process, and computer aided design (CAD).
My package will reflect and spread my excitement towards engineering through the breakdown of CAD. In the past I’ve taught students CAD through workshops open to my entire school and robotics summer camps. I’m excited to share my passion for design with a comprehensive deep dive of one of the fundamentals of engineering.

Classes

Each Package includes a complimentary introductory meeting with parents and students to understand the student’s interests and prior 3D modeling experience and to create personalized lesson plans that will fully challenge and excite the student.
Classes will be held virtual through zoom. A computer with reliable internet connection is needed. Because the software used (Onshape) is web-based, no computer installations are necessary.
Class day and times will be discussed and agreed upon with the teacher and students. There will be a minimum of 1-2 classes per week.
For classes with two or more participants, students should have a somewhat similar level of background CAD experience, so that they will all be engaged and comfortable with the pace of the lessons.

Waiver

This package does not guarantee the proficiency of 3D modeling. While the teacher will provide thorough instruction, practice, and support, the effectiveness of the package is ultimately reliant on the effort and engagement of the student. The tutoring package is intended to give students the tools, resources, and guidance they need to enhance their abilities and knowledge in CAD.
However, the tutoring sessions’ success is dependent on the student’s active engagement, practice, and willingness to learn. It is critical that the student arrives prepared for each session completes assignments, and actively participates in assigned learning activities.
