1. Your school district

Start with your district’s official pages for graduation requirements, school counseling and college and career planning. Your child’s school counselor remains the best source for school-specific deadlines and course selection.

2. Free official SAT and ACT practice

Students don’t need to start with a paid program. The test makers’ own materials are free and the most accurate:

A simple way to start: take one full practice test under real timing, look at which question types cost the most points, and plan a few hours of practice each week. About 10 weeks of steady preparation before a test date is ideal.

3. AP classes

AP courses move fast and end with a May exam. The official AP Students site has course descriptions, past free-response questions and exam dates. Small habits help most: reviewing notes every week instead of cramming, practicing with real past questions, and asking the teacher early when a topic doesn’t click.

4. College planning, Bright Futures and financial aid

Our free guides for Florida families:

Applying to a Catholic high school? Find schools and admissions contacts in the official directories: Archdiocese of Miami schools (Broward and Miami-Dade) · Diocese of Palm Beach schools.

5. Public libraries

South Florida’s public library systems offer free study spaces, test prep books, online learning databases and, in some systems, free online homework help with a library card. Check each website for current services:

6. When might a student benefit from tutoring?

Free resources are a great start. Extra one-on-one help is worth considering when a student:

  • understands lessons in class but struggles to apply them alone,
  • has a specific SAT or ACT goal and a test date coming up,
  • is falling behind in an AP class or advanced math,
  • needs structure and accountability to keep a steady study routine.

UKE Tutoring offers 1:1 online SAT, PSAT, ACT and HSPT prep, AP and math tutoring up to Multivariable Calculus, and college and scholarship advising, with tutors who attend top US universities. Short on time before the SAT? Text or WhatsApp Fred and we’ll find the right option. We work with families across South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties) and beyond, since every session is online.
