PACKAGE FOR 10 PRE-CALCULUS 1.5 HOUR SESSIONS
Conquering Pre-Calculus
We are offering a 10 session package designed to help high schoolers (or gifted middle schoolers) strengthen their understanding and skills in Pre-Calculus, building a solid foundation for success in higher-level math courses like Calculus.
This program focuses on mastery of functions, trigonometry, and advanced algebraic techniques critical for a smooth transition to calculus.
Each session includes:
-Thorough review of school lessons, homework, and challenging topics
-Targeted practice with real-world applications and exam-style problems
-Personalized strategies for improving accuracy, speed, and critical thinking
-Regular progress assessments and detailed parent feedback reports after each session
Students will also develop strong study habits, efficient memorization techniques, and learn how to best use educational resources to support their continued academic success.
Pre-Calculus Curriculum:
- 1. Functions and Graphs
Understanding and graphing different types of functions:
Linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and piecewise functions
Operations with functions (composition, inverses)
Transformations of functions (shifts, stretches, reflections) - 2. Trigonometry
Unit circle and radian measure
Graphing trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, and their inverses)
Trigonometric identities and equations
Laws of Sines and Cosines
Applications of trigonometry to real-world problems (angles of elevation/depression, navigation) - 3. Analytic Geometry
Conic sections: circles, parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas
Identifying and graphing conic sections
Applications of conic sections - 4. Sequences and Series
Introduction to arithmetic and geometric sequences and series
Summation notation and basic applications - 5. Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
Properties of exponential and logarithmic functions
Solving exponential and logarithmic equations
Applications in growth and decay models - 6. Additional Topics (as time permits and based on school curriculum)
Introduction to limits (basic concepts only)
Introduction to vectors and parametric equations
Basic matrices and determinants (if covered by the student’s course)
By the end of the program, students will have a strong command of Pre-Calculus topics, allowing them to confidently move forward into Calculus and succeed in their future math courses.
