High School Entrance Exam Readiness (HSPT, SSAT, etc.)

I am offering a 10-session package specially designed to prepare students for high school entrance exams such as the HSPT, SSAT, PSAT 8/9, and other similar tests. Each two-hour session will focus on covering tested subjects, implementing effective test-taking strategies, conducting timed practice tests, and providing personalized feedback on performance. The content and structure of these sessions will be tailored to the individual needs and strengths of each student, ensuring a personalized learning experience that fosters maximum progress and guaranteeing that the student spends the most time overcoming their weakest subjects. 

The package will consist of the following:

Diagnostic Assessment and Individualized Feedback:

We will begin with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment to identify your child’s strengths and areas for improvement in the subjects covered by the high school entrance exams. This assessment will provide a baseline understanding of their current abilities and guide our focus during the sessions. I will provide individualized feedback, highlighting their strengths and addressing specific areas where they can improve their performance.

Targeted Content Review and Concept Reinforcement:

Based on the diagnostic results, we will review key concepts and skills essential for success in the high school entrance exams. We will cover all tested subjects, including math, verbal skills, English, reading comprehension, and logical reasoning/quantitative math. Through clear explanations, examples, and practice problems, we will reinforce their understanding and mastery of the content.

Test-Taking Strategies and Time Management Techniques:

Your child will learn effective test-taking strategies and time management techniques specific to high school entrance exams. We will discuss approaches to different question types, analyze common pitfalls, and develop strategies to address them. By improving their test-taking skills and time management, your child will gain confidence and improve their overall performance.

Practice Tests and Timed Practice: 

To provide a realistic exam experience, we will incorporate timed practice tests throughout the package. I will provide practice materials sourced from previous high school entrance exams to familiarize your child with the format, question types, and difficulty level. Please note that practice exams will be given as homework to complete outside of the sessions, and it is both the student and parent’s responsibility to ensure that they come prepared with each completed assessment.  By practicing with real exam questions, your child will become more accustomed to the types of questions that often repeat themselves. Regular practice tests will help them develop their pacing, refine their strategies, and grow accustomed to the specific challenges presented by these exams.

Individualized Attention and Progress Tracking:

Sessions will be tailored to your child’s unique learning style and needs, ensuring an interactive and engaging learning experience. I will provide individualized attention, addressing specific questions and concerns, and offer ongoing progress assessments to track your child’s growth and improvement over time.

Additional Resources and Independent Study Support:

I will provide supplementary materials, study guides, and online resources to support your child’s independent study outside of our sessions. These resources will allow them to reinforce their understanding, practice further, and continue their progress between sessions. It is highly encouraged that students continue practicing their test-taking skills and strategies with these resources to maximize their success.
